I want to share with everyone the reality of the impact of being deemed to be mentally unwell. It has such far reaching and life changing implications as I know myself having being diagnosed some 14 years ago with borderline personality disorder and subsequently having spent stays of varying duration as an in-patient in an NHS acute psychiatric ward. Nothing in life can prepare you for how it feels to have fallen so far through the cracks, but your heart is opened as well as your eyes.I have written a work that is not fiction but reads like a novel which is basically the true account of my experience to let people in through the locked doors.

Trying to Live My Own Song

As the readers of my blog know I am blogging for my own mental health and to help others who may find some hope in my words.  There is a great project linked below called Blog for Mental Health 2014.  I hope you look at their site.  I have Bipolar Disorder and since being recently released from the hospital decided to be more truthful to myself and blogging is helping me do just that.

Mrs Bashful

As some of you may know I have struggled since child-hood with social anxiety disorder which has had a huge affect on all aspects of my life.

It can be hard to try to get people to understand who don’t suffer from a mental illness how hard doing the smallest every-day things can be sometimes.

But that’s a big reason why I blog about social anxiety. The written word can be more powerful then the spoken ones if you struggle to express yourself, like I do.

I use my blog as a platform to help those who don’t have a mental illness to relate and for those who do as a sign of solidarity-to pretty much say ‘you are not alone in your struggle’.

Many of you know that sometimes I write a post related to Mental Health Awareness. Some of these posts have had to do with self esteem, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,  and SAD.  I have found a blog that is compatible to this called The Official Blog for Mental Health project. I have taken their pledge. . .

Nothing is changing because I already write mental health posts. This just lets them know I’m committed to doing so.

This morning I struggled a little with anxiety. I think it was triggered by a dream I had last night. I’ve taken my meds and it helps to work on this blog.
